A half-day river-tracing trip in Hualien. Jumping pools, short climbs, quiet forest. Baibao Creek is one of Taiwan's only jade-producing rivers — your guide can show you how to spot it. April–October.

After the 2024 Hualien earthquake we run all river-tracing trips on Baibao Creek, the jade-producing stream in Shoufeng. Your guide can show you how to tell the jade from regular river stone — most people take home a piece.
Full wetsuit, helmet, PFD, river shoes — all included.
EU CE-certified safety kit, regularly serviced. NT$48M public liability insurance with Fubon. Personal gear sanitised between trips.
1 guide per 6 people. Max 12.
Briefing on the bank, guide in the water with you, waterproof camera the whole time. Groups of 12+ get a private trip automatically.
Kids from age 6 (110 cm+).
We stock child-sized helmets, PFDs, and river shoes. Non-swimmers OK — the guide is in the pool with you.
Two slots: morning or afternoon
Morning
Meet 8:00 AM at the river. Gear on by 8:10, instruction by 8:30, in the water by 9:00. Climbing, jumping, free play in the pools, small snack on the bank, and back to the car park by 11:30. Done by noon.
Afternoon
Meet 1:30 PM. Same shape. On the water by 2:30, back by 5:30.
Activity time is about 4 hours door-to-door (not including transport to the river). The actual in-river time is ~3 hours.

Meeting point
The meeting point depends on which stream we run that day (conditions vary). Since the 2024 earthquake we’ve been on Baibao Creek (白鮑溪) full-time — meeting at the 7-Eleven Bayue branch (八悅門市), ~30 min south of Hualien City.
For other streams (翡翠谷 Emerald Valley / 三棧北溪 Sanzhan North / 砂婆噹 Shabadang) we confirm the meeting point the night before.
Season and weather
- Running: April through October (late spring to late autumn)
- Off-season: November to March the water is too cold
- Rain: light rain OK — we call it if CWB issues a heavy-rain warning or we judge water levels unsafe. Notice by 8 PM the day before.
- Earthquake note: post-2024 earthquake we only operate Baibao Creek for safety reasons

What to bring
Swimwear (to wear under the wetsuit), a change of clothes, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen. Eyewear straps if you wear glasses — we loan them for free. Leave phones in the car.
